On this date in 1916, Indiana (suggested new name: Nativeamericana) became the 19th United State. They then announced that they would be in a different time zone. Not just a time zone that was different than that of their neighbors, but like an entirely new time zone made up specifically for Indiana, where it was like an hour and twenty six and a half minutes off from other places. Seriously, what is going on in Indiana? Slaney? I feel like whenever I've had occasion to traverse the great State of Indigenouspeoplesa I end up having to reset my clock like nine times. WHAT IS GOING ON THERE?

Also on this date in 1941, Germany and Italy declared war on the United States. They (G&I) would end up losing. SPOILER! (pause) Here used ironically because actually you know what? We don't need to go down that road again.
